Exploring Possibilities for Indo-German Startups

Karlsruhe part of the “Indo German Startup Week”

The “German Indian Startup Exchange Program” (“GINSEP”, a non-monetary platform) initiated by the “German Startups Association” (“Bundesverband Deutsche Startups”) and supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) is to strengthen and foster exchange between India and Germany in the startup space – and support Indian and German startups in their efforts to gain access to the respective other market.

The participants also obtained feedback in terms of going international with research-based startups. experts pointed to opportunities from India and Germany – also via virtual expo. Economic Development Karlsruhe, Karlsruhe Innovation Office Pune, Automotive Engineering Network and CyberForum Karlsruhe presented Karlsruhe as a innovation hub, that offers startups in particular best opportunities thanks also to its global network.

Either looking for enterprise & stakeholder connect, funding support, tech co-creation, sales partner connections, mentorship or joint venture partner connections: Interesting Workshops, innovative panels and speakers, a 42-startups pitch marathon, a exciting F*CKUP Night and an virtual expo: The “Indo-German Startup Week” braught together in December 2020 the startup eco-systems of Germany and India to create impact for entrepreneurs looking for support to internationalize into the respective other markets.

“GINSEP” offers networking opportunities through events, workshops, pitching formats and study trips, providing information and handson assistance in gaining access to the other market by leveraging a large network of partners consisting of incubators, investors, corporates, support organisations, etc. from both countries. “India Ranks 3rd in the Global Index of Unicorns just behind USA and China and this has been achieved in just a decade”, says Pedro Ferreira, a Portuguese entrepreneur: “We will discuss what makes India such a vibrant startup ecosystem. We will also touch upon how this ecosystem is spearheading India to be the 3rd largest economy in the world.”

Anlaufstelle in Pune

 

Die Kooperation zwischen Karlsruhe und dem indischen Pune ist einen Schritt weiter: Im Januar 2014 wurde im "MCCIA Trade Tower", 403, Senapati Bapat Road, eine direkte Karlsruher Anlaufstelle mit den Repräsentantinnen Iris Becker und Winnie Kulkarni von "Let's Bridge IT" in Pune eröffnet.

Durch Erfolg und Ausbau der vielfältigen Aktivitäten - ob Infos rund um den Standort Karlsruhe, aktiv Kontakte zu indischen Firmen halten oder deutsche Firmen aus der TRK in und um Pune bekannter machen - erfolgte im März 2018 ein Umzug in neue Räumlichkeiten, auch durch die Erweiterung um die Repräsentanz des Landes Baden-Württembergs in Maharashtra sowie das Marketingbüro der „Hochschul Föderation Südwest“.
